Terms of Service
The report is an informational estimate of cosmic-radiation dose, not medical or professional advice. Here is what you are buying, the liability cap, and how refunds work.
These Terms of Service ("Terms") govern your use of FlightRadiation at flightradiation.com and your purchase of the report we provide (a cosmic-radiation dose estimate for a single flight, using the FAA CARI-7 model and ICRP-103 limits). By using this site or buying a report, you agree to these Terms.
1. What you are buying
FlightRadiation sells a one-time informational report for $9. The report compiles and presents a modeled dose estimate for the flight parameters you supply.
2. The report is an informational estimate, not medical or professional advice
The report is provided for general informational purposes only. It is a model-based estimate, not a professional service, and it is not, and must not be relied on as, medical, health, safety, legal, or occupational advice. It does not create any professional-client relationship. It is not a substitute for a licensed physician, an occupational-medicine review, an employer's aircrew dosimetry program, or advice from a qualified expert. Individual radiation risk depends on age, sex, prior exposure, and stochastic factors outside the model. You are solely responsible for any decision you make, and you should consult an appropriately qualified professional (for example a radiation oncologist, occupational-medicine physician, or obstetrician) before acting on anything in the report.
3. No warranty
The report and this site are provided "as is" and "as available", without warranties of any kind, whether express or implied, including but not limited to implied warranties of merchantability, fitness for a particular purpose, accuracy, and non-infringement. The dose figures are outputs of the FAA CARI-7 model and published reference data, which carry inherent modeling uncertainty and may contain errors, gaps, or out-of-date figures. We do not warrant that the report is accurate, complete, current, or fit for any particular purpose, and it does not model in-flight solar particle events unless one is known to be in progress.
4. Limitation of liability
To the maximum extent permitted by law, FlightRadiation, its operators, and its suppliers will not be liable for any indirect, incidental, special, consequential, or punitive damages, or for any loss of profits, revenue, data, or goodwill, arising out of or related to your use of the site or the report. To the maximum extent permitted by law, our total aggregate liability for any claim arising out of or related to the report or these Terms will not exceed the amount you paid for the report ($9).
5. Refunds
Because the report is a digital product delivered immediately, refunds are provided for delivery failure: for example, if you paid but did not receive your report, or the report could not be generated for the parameters you supplied. If your report failed to arrive or cannot be produced, email [email protected] and we will re-deliver it or refund your purchase. If you believe a specific figure in your report is wrong, contact us: we will investigate and, where a delivery or generation fault is on our side, make it right.
6. Acceptable use
You agree not to: resell, republish, or redistribute the report as your own product; scrape, bulk-download, or systematically extract content from the site; attempt to disrupt, overload, or gain unauthorized access to the site or its infrastructure; or use the site or report for any unlawful purpose. The report is licensed to you for your own personal or internal use.
7. Intellectual property
The site, its design, its text, and the report format are owned by FlightRadiation and protected by intellectual-property laws. The underlying model (FAA CARI-7) and reference publications (ICRP, NCRP, and others) belong to their respective sources. We grant you a limited, non-exclusive, non-transferable license to use the report you purchase for your own purposes.
8. Third-party services
Payments are processed by Stripe under Stripe's terms. Analytics are provided by Fathom Analytics. We are not responsible for the practices of third-party services, though we choose them with your privacy in mind (see our Privacy Policy).
9. Governing law
These Terms are governed by the laws of the United States and, to the extent applicable, the state in which the operator of FlightRadiation is established, without regard to conflict-of-laws rules. You agree that any dispute will be brought in the courts located there.
10. Changes to these Terms
We may update these Terms from time to time. When we do, we will revise the effective date above. Your continued use of the site after changes take effect constitutes acceptance of the revised Terms.
